The enchanting Budapest Hungary
Budapest, Hungary’s capital is interestingly a combination of two cities – Buda on the west bank of the Danube and Pest on the east bank! The 23 districts of this capital city are written in Roman numerals; Budapest is often called “Little Paris of Central Europe” and also “Pearl of Danube”. Visitors are enthralled by the romantic charm and musical ambience of this ancient capital city.
Good to know – the Terminal 1 of the airport is used by all low-cost airlines, and the Terminal 2 (both A and B) are used by the national airlines – Malev. There is a considerable distance between the two main terminals, so know your arrival and departure terminals before land to save trouble.

Budapest Hungary has the old (Buda) and the new (Pest); it is best viewed from the Chain bridge. There are seven bridges in all in Budapest, which also work as great landmarks. The Chain bridge looks spectacular at night when it is floodlit, with the city lights twinkling in the background. A special sight awaits you when you stand on the east bank and watch the Castle Hill lights on the other side of Chain Bridge.

The Castle Hill district of Buda has some of the best tourist attractions of the city like – Fisherman’s Bastion, Mathias Church (Church of Our Lady) and Labyrinth. The Royal Palace has a National Gallery showcasing some extraordinary paintings by masters. The Fisherman’s Bastion with its lookout terrace offers a panoramic view of the Danube and the Pest part of the capital city.

If musical instruments are your forte a visit to the Music Museum on the Castle Hill must be on the top of your list. Here you will see some unique musical instrument collections and historical memories of Bartok and the Romanian musical arts.
The Marzipan Museum may delight the young and the old alike – the sugar and almond figures are delightful. Watch Michael Jackson in his famous dance pose eternalized in marzipan and white chocolate; Disney and fairy tale characters in almond paste and a pure marzipan Princess Diana. Taste a free sample of the sugary delight when you enter and purchase to your heart’s content at the museum shop.

Among the attractive spots the Opera is not to be ignored – built in the neo-renaissance style its interior design and décor must be seen to be believed. The elegance and extravagance is also evident in the classical performances held here.
